Cyclone Rusty is quickly intensifying, and is on the verge of hurricane strength as it steadily moves closer to the Australian coast. More intensification was expected, but recent levelling off in intensity brings into question how strong the storm will be once it hits the coast. However, the chance of a major cyclone slamming the northwestern coast remains sizeable, and those in the sparsely populated region should take all necessary precautions and preparations for the storm.
