Nelson Mandela Bay Regional Executive Committee disbanded

The Eastern Cape ANC PEC has disbanded the Nelson Mandela Bay Regional Executive Committee. ANC provincial secretary, Lulama Ngcukaitobi, says they have taken the decision after it emerged that the functionality of branches in this region is currently standing at an unacceptable 60 percent. A task team will now be set up to facilitate the resurrection of a regional leadership structure. The ANC says it also does not want Nelson Mandela Bay metro ANC councillor, Andile Lungisa to serve on the task team. The PEC asked Lungisa to step down as member of the mayoral committee for infrastructure and engineering, following his conviction for the assault of a DA councillor, Rano Kayser.
