Malaysia in the 1950's. Sequence of shots, one of two older boys and young men learning to build a wall, one of an older boys hammering the frame of a window in a new house, with instructor looking on out of window and of an older boy sitting on a roof hammering on slates. Moves to a shot of two young men balanced precariously on top of a pylon while a third climbs up and hands them a useful object. Cut to a group of young men farming; pushing a plough, scattering seeds and using a hoe. A shot of four trainee doctors wearing medical masks which cover half their faces. A group of older boys and girls experimenting in chemistry labs, surrounded by various bottles, tubes and jars on shelves.
