DigInfo - http://movie.diginfo.tv Hitachi announced on July 13 the release of Hitachi AirLocation II, an indoor/outdoor wireless LAN system to detect geographical positions. AirLocation II can accurately identify wireless handsets at the high speed of more than 200 times per second. Under AirLocation II, a base station simultaneously conducts position detection and data/voice communication, and it is equipped with a radio relaying function that eliminates the LAN connectivity between stations. The AirLocation II system comes with AirLocation II Receiver, a dedicated receiver station to detect positions. By combining the receiver with a base station, the system can greatly reduce the costs for infrastructure. Compared to the traditional model, the speed of detection is increased from a few times to more than 200 times per second, so that it is now possible to identify the locations of more handsets in short cycles. With AirLocation II, a server located on a data center can control information on multiple, distributed positions. Compatible with the IEEE 802.11b/g wireless LAN standard, AirLocation II can work with existing access points and mixed environments. Supporting a wider variety of applications than ever, AirLocation II helps to construct a large-scale, flexible system. The minimum configuration is available at 3,948,000 yen and up. The company will start sales on July 14 and shipment in late September.
