AT the 2011 June Coolspring show The 1883 Daimler engine made it first public run.  Here Wayne Grenning discusses the significance of this engine and the important contribution it made to the development of the modern gas engine.  In this part ( 2 of 2) the operational cycle and surface carburetor functionality are described.
The engine has many significant features:
1) First gasoline engine
2) First (High speed engine)
3) First Hot tube engine
4) Lowest weight to Weight ratio

This engine is an exact copy of Daimlers prototype engine that was built in 1883 by Daimler - and later destroyed  in a tragic factory fire in 1903.   This reproduction It was in fact built by the Daimler Corporation for Tom Stockton ( Ann Arbor, Mi) in the early 1970's.  It is a running exhibit and on loan to the Coolspring Power Museum.
