Former National Olympic Committee of Kenya officials Stephen Soi and FK Paul as well as former Sports Ministry Principal secretary Richard Ekai pleaded not guilty to the charge of mismanagement of public funds. Other officials including former Sports CS Hassan Wario and Olympics legend Kipchoge Keino were absent and were given up to 6pm Thursday to present themselves to the DCI, failure to which warrants of arrest will be issued. Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti denied Richard Ekai, who happens to be the Kenyan Ambassador to Russia, the right to travel outside of the country and ordered all accused to deposit their passports to court. Bond was set at 2 million shillings or a cash bail of 1 million.
