www.EmpoweRN.com Hello and thanks so much for watching! My name is Caroline Porter Thomas and I am a nurse working in Miami Florida. I work per diem for an agency and have been a nurse for more than 5 years. I love what I do and want to meet more nurses that love their job... or want to love their job. As a nurse we face difficult situations. Many times we are unable to deliver the care that we feel each of our patients deserves. Surprisingly some of the most difficult situations arise when we have encounters with co-workers that are less than pleasnt. What I have realized is that when you speak about a bad encounter or even try the opposite, supress it, it can become the only thing on your mind. The above video is about an encounter that I had. It was a day that I was called into work late and from 10:30 am to 7pm, I received 7 new admissions. I was able to complete 4 of the admissions completely, however the last 3, I only had time to get the patient settled, check their VS and give the medications. I was reporting off the admission paperwork only. The nurses must not have been having a good night and they were less than excited to receive the news. I left that night in almost in tears. A few weeks later though the main nurse that had given me a difficult time was giving me report. Now if your not a nurse yet you might not know that if you want to get someone back report is a great time to do so. You can do this by asking a lot of unessary questions, asking the nurse to repeat herself or if your in the room you can even start talking to the patient about unrelated things... in short if you want to make someone's life hard... this is your chance. So I had my chance to get the nurse back: But I thought... "How will I grow from this?" and more importantly, "what if she was really just having a bad day and needs a second chance." Guys, this is the greatest gifts you can give to anyone who has been rude to you. It is also the greatest gift you can give to yourself... you do this by acting like nothing happened. So when you are on the job and if someone is mean to you keep this in mind! I hope this helps! Keep in touch and please subscribe to my channel, like the video, place a comment and email me! I look forward to hearing from you! Loves!! - Caroline Porter Thomas Disclaimer: These videos are intended for entertainment purposes only.
