Part 3 of the series, "The 1 On John 1". The prologue to the Gospel of John introduces one of the gospel's central metaphorical images: that of a life-giving Light that shines in a (deathly) darkness. Consistent with this imagery, the gospel repeatedly features crises of blindness—the failure to see and recognize the "Light of Life," the giver of all existence: "though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him" (John 1:10). In this chapel, artist Jonathan Anderson will offer a meditation on the ways that vision and blindness operate in the Christian life and offer some sketches of what a 'discipled' kind of seeing might be.
