Hello everyone! Details below lyrics: VERSE 1: Back there, in Ol' Beantown ...felt like thirty five below When we finally called it quits, I knew I'd have to go I asked you what you wanted, you said you'd keep the house complete with all the furniture and both the joint accounts CHORUS: Hasta La Vista baby, Thought you'd like to know That I'm on a beach While you're shoveling snow Hasta La Vista baby I'll drink this beer And think of New England Snowy New England Thank God that you're not here VERSE 2: Other men might fume and rage, but it was no surprise For months, I saw you sharpen those daggers in your eyes Now you're at the window, watching drifting snow Covering the driveway that I used to blow CHORUS: Hasta La Vista baby, Thought you'd like to know That I'm on a beach While you're covered in snow Hasta La Vista baby I'll drink this beer And think of New England Snowy New England Thank God that you're not here ----------------------------------- Over on Musesmuse, they ran a contest where musicians wrote a song using the winning lyric from the prior month's lyric contest. I had to make some modifications to make it work, which cost me during scoring, but it was a fun exercise. Writing to someone else's words pushed me in a different direction than I ever would have on my own. I got a distinct "Friends in Low Places" feel, so I busted out my best Garth Brooks/Jimmy Buffet. You'll have to let me know if I hit the board, let alone the target. :) As with a lot of projects lately, I kept this one simple. I recorded only two guitar tracks and three vocals, with the intention of keeping the best of each. The drums were originally just to keep time during tracking, but I ended up tossing them into the chorus on a whim and liking it. Once I had done that, it was a no-brainer to bring the other two vocals in to make it more of a sing-a-long. You'd laugh if you knew how much time I invested in just the hihat. Ended up learning a few things about midi, so it was all worthwhile. Here's the thread with the contest entries if you want to see how other artists approached it: http://www.musesmuse.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=60540&st=0 Thanks for giving it a listen, hopefully 2016 is treating you well.
