In pastoralist communities, education is still considered secondary to livestock herding.  It's not rare to see young children of school going age, taking up herding roles instead. But the Lentasim Early Childhood Education Centre in Nairisha village of Samburu county hopes to change the community's fortunes. Melita Ole Tenges brings us the story of this school thriving against all odds, and helping shape the futures of the young children of the Samburu community.
