The government will soon launch a special investment scheme for the Indian community, specifically for the B40 group.

The RM500 million scheme over the next five years, to be launched by the Prime Minister, is in the form of investment in a Special Permodalan Nasional Berhad, PNB scheme.

Socio-Economic Development of the Indian Community, SEDIC, Director-General, Prof. Datuk Dr N.S. Rajendran, said his department is in the midst of identifying the targeted families, which will benefit from the special investment scheme.

We're gonna address YAB PM in the Budget there is allocated RM100 million for this particular scheme where we are targeting 20,000 households, the bottom 40 households, one from that household will be getting an investment of the RM5,000 each, interest-free loan.

SEDIC is trying to come in, we get from agencies, we start calling them, participation from Indian youths.

This year 2018 we've got plans to include few selected churches and selected gurdwaras to also join these temples to see how we can transform into becoming community transformation centres.

It's not something which came out of the blue, it's work in progress and it stated in 2009, even MIB announced in May 2015, when he launched RM11 in parliament, with extensive engagement with stakeholders in the community, covering all, political leaders, civil society, academicians, NGOs, comprehensive document was produced and it was launched on Apr 23, So even then it took enough time to do consultation and come up with comprehensive document, so to say that election gimmick, it's not fair to say that.)
