Earlier in the year we split 1 hive into 3, and in doing so we never expected to be able to harvest any honey.

I started by checking the first split - and there was some honey and new eggs that were laid, but nothing to harvest.

I then went over to the nuc hive and found the same thing - some honey, but no frames worth capping - but there were new eggs too.

So, figuring that the most I would get done in the last hive - the one that started us off for the season - is to change out the beetle traps. But - lo and behold - I ended up taking 7 frames in. Those, combined with 2 other frames from a previous pull got us 23 pounds of honey. Pretty good for not really expecting to get anything at all!
