Peach (mare, nearside) and Romeo (gelding, middle) out carriage driving as a 3 abreast for the first time going through puddles. Peach was already broken to ride prior to coming to us, and had possibly been driven as a youngster (she is now 8 and hadn't been driven for 4 years). Romeo was bought from Ireland unbroken and is 4 years old. We take them out in the rain and show them going happily through puddles and coping with cars passing and making splashing noises as they drive through puddles on the side of the road. This is important to bear in mind when driving in wet weather; things such as windscreen wipers can make cars sound and look different, so we feel it is vital to train horses to be driven in different weather conditions during their initial training.
