Michael is continuing on its journey northwards, passing through the Yucatan Channel as a developing Category 1 hurricane, with further strengthening expected. The storm could reach major hurricane status as it approaches the Florida Gulf Coast shores later this week, and Hurricane Watches are already in effect.
