Typhoon Bolaven is approaching the Rykuyu Island chain of Japan as a powerful 145mph Category 4 storm. The storm is expected to reach at least 155mph, meaning it may turn out to be the world's first Category 5 storm since August 26, 2011. Bolaven is approaching the Okinawa Islands of Japan, and local warnings and advisories are in place. Interests in Korea and northern China should also monitor this storm closely.
