In the interests of preserving the history of Black Metal genre, I have transferred this little-known radio programe from the original cassette recording I made from the radio over 20 years ago. 'The Flames and The Claims ; The story of Black Metal' was religious documentary broadcast to dissuade teenagers from listening to Black Metal. It features interviews with Varg Vikernes (Burzum), Ihsahn (Emperor), Abbadon (Venom), Dani Filth (Cradle of Filth), Malcolm Dome (rock journalist), Diamanda (Misanthropy rec.), Rolfe Rasmussen (parson of burned Asane church), Veronica Tims (mother of convicted UK musician and campaigner against Black Metal), Alex Maloney (author of 'Rock music ; the citadel of Satan), Audrey Harper (reformed 'Black Witch' and evangelical campaigner) and many others. It features clips of music by Emperor, Burzum, Venom, Satyricon, death metal group Deicide and some awful industrial music which has no place being featured. I hope that you enjoy this trip down memory lane - J. Fogarty
