Typhoon Jelawat (Philippine Name: Lawin) continues to maintain its Category 5 strength as it slowly tracks north-northwestward, paralleling the coast of the Philippines. Signal 1 Warnings are now in effect for parts of northern Luzon, and the storm poses a significant, but not a landfall threat to the area and to Taiwan in a few days time. From there, the storm is expected to turn northwestward and pose a threat to Japan in just less than a week. This forecast may change though, so stay tuned for more updates.
