Margaret tries to do her best for her own family while struggling to repair the damage done to others. But when a strange, angry Australian woman accosts her one rainy night, it is the start of a journey which takes Margaret from a tower block in Nottingham to furthest reaches of the Australian outback. Along the way Margaret discovers a secret that the British government has kept hidden for years -- 130,000 children in care sent abroad to commonwealth countries, mainly Australia.
