When we dive into Kingsway West issue #1 we are immediately dropped into an alternate history version of North America. The Chinese have crossed the pacific to claim an area and this had lead to a conflict with the Mexicans over a magical ore called red gold. While science is still around, magic provides the power and red gold has it in spades. Kingsway Law is a nomad gunslinger and former member of the Golden City army. However, for the past five years he has been living in an unclaimed section of land called The Wild with his wife Sonia. That is until someone comes looking for him.

Greg Pak does a great job introducing the character and giving enough information to flesh out the simple rules of the world and allow the art to expand and enhance those things. Even though Kingsway West issue #2 just came out this week, there is enough story to make me want to stick around for more.

iRate Reviews is the show where I go over specific books from my pickup that deserve to be talked about review them in a little bit more depth. This doesn't mean that they are always good though. Some comics are lessons in what NOT to do.
