A short film shot on Bolex H16 16mm Black and White Reversal, starring Brendan Barnett with voice over by Gus Weate.
===  SOME HISTORY:
My family bought a video camera in the 80's at some point. VHS-C.
So we grew up making silly films.

Over the years, I'd dabbled with SD video, HD video, and I was playing with Super 8 as well.

A few years ago, I decided to buy a Bolex H16 camera from the 50's, partly because I'd seen that Peter Jackson had used one on Bad Taste, and it all seemed very romantic! :)

This movie was an excuse to shoot some film on the Bolex, with my friends Brendan Barnett and Evan Lorden.

I shot a single role of Tri-X black and white film, largely improvising as we went along, laying down shot after shot, one take for each shot.

(Chemicals and film stock were mostly acquired through, or with the help of Richard from Nanolab, thanks very much!)

I then hand-processed the film in a Lomo tank I bought on eBay from Russia, and then got it telecined.

I wrote a script and my friend Gus did the French voice over narration.
================================
I may never shoot film through the Bolex again, and I'm now playing with a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, which actually takes some of the lenses that came with the Bolex. Processing the film, getting it telecined, etc, was a real pain.

I don't regret going through this process! But I wouldn't rush out to do it again. :)
