Accra Ghana was the venue in 1971 , on 6 March, including Maya Angelou, W. E. B. Du Bois and George Padmore. Malek Crayem was a young musician playing backstage with the likes of Ike and Tina Turner, Wilson Pickett, The show took place at the Black Star Square (now Independence Square) on the Gulf of Guinea and lasted for 14 hours, until 6:45 a.m. Malek Crayem - Ghana's Ambassador for Music played with music great such as Santana, Ike and Tina Turner during 1971 'Soul to Soul' festival in Ghana. More music more soul - Carlos Santana, despite playing mostly latin rhtyhms, played the most "African-sounding" music of the night. Some have argued that the band's merger of Latin rhythms with rock music strongly influenced the development of Afrobeat. Soul to soul was back to live in Africa with the concert. Malek Crayem was a friend who performed regularily back then. He later established 3 bands who performed in nightclubs around Accra. Malek Crayem passed away last year in Accra. We bid farewell to a great musician Ghana has lost. He helped Soul to soul get back to life whilst he was alive, and the Nation will never forget his musical achievements. R.I.P.
