Thai rice farmers in rural Thailand depend still on water buffalo, though mechanized harvest equipment is widely available.

In some remote areas like Angthong province of Ayudhya farmers rely more on their traditional help, the buffalo.

Early morning I drive to the company around 7 a.m. . The fields are all bustling with Thai workers and farmers, some of them driving their flock of ducks into the rice fields. 

Ducks are an invaluable tool for the farmer. On one hand they clear the paddies from any reptiles such as snakes, or millipedes. Anything coming in their way ducks devour it in seconds. Snakes don't stand a chance against ducks.

On the other hand ducks provide nutrients to the rice plant by fertilizing the soil. 

It is a very fruitful comradeship between ducks and rice farmers.
