One favorite while traveling in remote areas is a chance to interact with the locals. Even if that means eating dumplings ("dim sum" and I happen to love dumplings) for breakfast in a teeny-tiny restaurant. Fascinating and "Fay-Chung-How" - "very good" goes a long way on making the Chinese people happy.
A major total eclipse of the Sun was occurring today across India and China (Shanghai would experience totality lasting 5 minutes) but we didn't expect to see it on the ride towards Maduo. How wrong could we have been! Again...you never know what will happen while traveling..."
