Stone Temple Pilots. The name alone gives fans goosebumps, especially when the band came back, and announced they would be releasing new music in 2010. However, the resulting album, which is eponymous, seems worn, perhaps even generic. There are some unique ideas within, but the same band that wowed crowds and reviewers in the 1990's seems to have come up short with their first output of the new decade. The band is still focused, and the production is well-done, however, the album at points seems radio-saturated, resembling more of the lackluster Shangra-La-De-Da than albums like Core and Purple. 6.75/10
