I’m scared I might be over training and slowing my progress. Well it really depends, because any type of workout that you do with weights, is going to breakdown muscle. That’s key, because that what you actually want. In order for your muscles to grow bigger and stronger, you first need to breakdown the muscles. Then after your workout, it’s important to feed your body the proper nutrients, the proper supplementation, and get the proper rest. Following these steps will then help grow your muscles, and become stronger. Question #2: What is your take on empty stomach cardio in the morning, for one day per week? “Study A” will tell you this, while “Study B” will tell you that. There’s really no right answer in my opinion. You have to find what works for you. If you wake up in the morning and go to the gym, but you don’t have the energy to get through a cardio workout, eat something. If you can go to the gym on an empty stomach, and you’re seeing results, keep doing it. You just have to test things out because everybody is different. Personally, empty stomach cardio does work for me as I’ve seen the best results from that. Question #3: I saw alcoholic beverages in a workout magazine where it said beer was good for you? Well you have to remember magazines are in the business of selling advertising. So what this ad was probably saying is “Beer A” is probably healthier than “Beer B”, because maybe it’s lower in calories and lower in carbs. Is beer healthy for you? No. Should you drink beer every single day? No. But is beer alright to have it on occasion when you’re Living Lean? Yes. Question #4: You said building muscle burns calories all day and speeds up your metabolism. But how do I handle the hunger that comes with a fast metabolism? The key to this, is to not binge on the quick junk food. Fuel your muscles and your body with foods high protein and healthy fat. Those two macronutrients are the most satiating forms of calories that you can eat. This will also reduce your cravings for sugary refined carbohydrates. By binging on unhealthy food, it will take you further away from your goals, and ruin all the hard work in the gym. Question #5: Can I build muscle with my bodyweight? Yes you can, to a point. Building muscle is all about overloading the muscle with more weight. If you’re just starting off, and you’re doing bodyweight exercises, that’s a new stimulus that your body is not used to. This means you will be building muscle. However, after you get to a point where you can’t keep progressing, you’re going to potentially plateau. That’s when you’re going to need to add more weight to the exercises, to increase the amount of weight that your body is used to lifting.
