At the time of this interview, Colette Burnett had already transformed Super Wings NY into one of Brooklyn’s notable Caribbean-inspired food businesses.

Burnett opened the original Super Wings location in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, in 2009, bringing flavors inspired by her Trinidad and Tobago upbringing to chicken wings through creations including Trini-Tamarind, Pineapple Jerk, Ginger Buff and Island BBQ.

Super Wings gained wider attention after winning the inaugural Best Wings in Brooklyn competition in 2010. Burnett later appeared on Food Network’s Throwdown with Bobby Flay, where her Caribbean-inspired wings defeated Bobby Flay’s version in the challenge.

The interview also represents an important chapter in Julianspromos history. During Vivaa’s first year conducting interviews for the platform, the conversation expanded Julianspromos coverage beyond Soca artists and entertainment to include Caribbean entrepreneurship, food and business in New York.
