http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com It's only a 10-minute ferry ride from Xiamen over to the very lively Gulangyu Island. Even though this car-free island is only 2 square kilometers in size, approximately 10,000 visitors a day squish into the narrow little streets to visit. There are stalls selling weird and live seafood, souvenirs, glutinous dumplings filled with meats and vegetables, fish balls (a Guylangyu specialty) and even a large KFC, McDonald's and Dairy Queen.
