The good Texas heat did not stop the fun at this year’s 15th Annual Day of the Drags held at historic Little River Drag way in Holland, Texas. The show was on full throttle during the two-day event which started on Friday, July 29th and ended Saturday evening.

Hosted by the Kontinentals Car Club, Day of the Drags is a pre ‘64 Nostalgia Drag race. The Little River Dragway has been active since 1957. I spoke with Brian Audere, an active Kontinentals Car Club member and an organizer for Day of the Drags. Before the races kicked off, I was fortunate to have a conversation with him. He said, “We really like doing the show out here for the history of the track. You know, it’s kinda like the perfect location… it’s a unique place, the history is here. This weekend with all the vintage cars, you can take a picture of everything and it looks great.’”

Plenty of beautiful cars lined up in the staging lanes racing throughout the day and into the evenings. In addition, more cars were on display alongside the perimeter of the track. Displayed cars included hot rods, collections of period correct customs and cool rat rods. Cars were cruising in and out of the show all day Saturday. People came from all over Texas to enjoy racing and checking out other cool rides. Each year Day of the Drags gets bigger and without a doubt, will continue to grow. Meeting new people and enjoying each other’s company is part of the great experience; besides the beautiful cars and racing of course.
