The city of Porto lies on a hill next to the river Douro and contains many historical locations. The two story high bridge, the Ponte de Dom Luis 1, is part of the historic centre. The history of Porto goes back more than 800 years, a good reason to preserve its heritage for future generations. Officially designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, this site is to be safeguarded for the future as a testimony to its enduring past.
