Mother pleads guilty in baby's near drowning

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A mother headed to prison after her child nearly drowned. Jessica Whitehead pleaded guilty Wednesday, August 19, to felonious assault. The judge sentenced her to seven years.     Police found Whitehead's 7-week-old daughter in a bathtub at a home at 16th and Walnut in Over-The-Rhine on New Year's Eve. The child was not breathing and rushed to Children's Hospital. The prosecutor filed a notice of intent to charge Whitehead with a homicide offense if the child should die of her injuries in the future.
