Jaro Plaza is a full city block park and intersection for several major roads. The Jaro bell tower is located on the edge of the park and directly across the street from the Jaro Cathedral. Built in 1864, it served two functions. One purpose was to house the bell for church services and secondly, to serve as a watch tower for the Moro raiders who might attack the church and town people. Both structures suffered heavy damage during the 1948 earthquake but were repaired. Sorry about the temporary camera slip...
