Wildlife enthusiasts and bird lovers from Sorath belt of Saurashtra are busy these days in counting vultures in the cliffs of Girnar mountain. Vultures are on the verge of extinction in India. Girnar mountain, which is the highest mountain in Gujarat state provides ideal place for vultures to nest. Vultures living here are popularly known as Girnari gidh. Then there are also other kind of species of vultures nesting here. Two-day long counting drive of vultures is going on in entire Gujarat by Gujarat's Forest department with the help of its ground staff and bird lovers.
