http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com Riding towards Mount Pinatubo, we notice a high tower without a clue that this is Camp O'Donnell, the end of the Bataan Death March as well as kilometer markers along the road. Guide June promised a visit after the hike up Mount Pinatubo. Younger viewers may never have heard of the infamous Bataan Death March. A gruesome and horrifying, historical event that took place during World War II and one that we should never forget. About 2,200 Americans and 27,000 Filipinos died at Camp O'Donnell, now the Capas National Shrine. Built and maintained by the Philippine Government as a memorial to those who died here.
