In early spring, before any bumble bees come out, you will probably have to hand pollinate squash.  How you will know that your squash blooms are not getting pollinated is that the little squash will wither, die and fall off.  Later, as the weather warms up you may have enough bumble bees to do the pollinating for you.  Years back, before so much agricultural poison sprays were being used there were plenty of honey bees to pollinate those vegetables that need pollinators.  But not these days.
