People have been crying out for a more convenient way to access web sites on their cell phones without having to tediously type in an address. 
Sumomo offers one solution to this with "osaifu" keitai-wallet phone functions of FeliCa mobile compatible phones. 
When the user places their mobile on Sumomo, it automatically accesses the designated URL without the user having to manually type it in, install an application or take a picture using the phones QR code reader. 
By placing the phone over the reader the user can also automatically store e-mail addresses, send blank or pre-formatted e-mails, set up applications on the phone, or even receive coupons. 
The number of people currently using wallet functions on their mobile is around 30 mllion and the number is expected to rise to almost 48 million by the end of 2007. 
Sumomo can also be used as a marketing tool as it stores FeliCa chip numbers of each mobile user and can sort the data by carrier, location, time and date, and the number of hits each website receives. 
They plan to have Sumomo in places where plenty of people gather or pass by like events, store fronts, and in stations.
