http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com India has the only lions in Asia! And, Sasangir (Gir) National Park in Gujarat is the only place they are found on the entire continent. The long name is Sasangir (Sasan Gir) Forest & Sanctuary, only 65 kms/40 miles from Junagadh. Tourists can only enter the park on morning and game drives between certain hours, accompanied by a naturalist and driver from the Park Service. No off-road driving allowed. Guides are assigned a specific route per game drive and if that turns out to be a dud, so be it. Come with money...entrance fees...game drives...camera fees (that change weekly by the government)...tipping. There seemed to be no end. Schedule more than one game drive or you may be out of luck spotting them in the thick forest! We did see lions. However, no videos since lions are usually active in dusk and/or darkness. It was definitely an experience and so exciting when a lion casually walked out of the forest. Please don't forget to Subscribe, Share and Like.
