ஆடிப்பெருக்கு என்பது ஆடி மாதம் 18ஆம் நாள் தமிழக ஆறுகள் பெருக்கெடுத்து ஓடுவதைக் குறிக்கும்.ஆடிப்பெருக்கினை பதினெட்டாம் பெருக்கு என்றும், ஆடிப்பதினெட்டு என்றும் அழைக்கின்றனர். பொதுவாக தமிழ் விழாக்கள் நாட்களின் எண்ணிக்கையை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு செய்யப்படுவதில்லை. நட்சத்திரங்களை அடிப்படையாக கொண்டும், கிழமைகளையும் கொண்டே நடத்தப்படுகிறது. ஆடி மாதத்தில் 18வது நாள் என்று நாளின் எண்ணிக்கையை கணக்கில் கொண்டு நடத்தப்படும் ஒரே விழா இதுவாகும்.மக்கள் ஆற்றங்கரைகளில் கூடி ஆற்றுப் பெருக்கைக் கண்டு களிப்பர். கோயில்களில் சென்று வழிபடவும் செய்வர். அன்றைய நாள் பெண்கள் ஆற்றில் குளித்து ஆற்றங்கரையில் ஒவ்வொருவரும் பூஜை செய்ய ஒரு இடத்தைப் பிடித்துக் கொள்கின்றனர். அந்த இடத்தை சுத்தம் செய்து, பசு சாணத்தால் மெழுகி அதன் மேல் வாழை இலையை விரித்து அகல்விளக்கு ஏற்றி வைக்கின்றனர். வழிபாட்டில் வெற்றிலை, பாக்கு, பழம் படைத்து, பத்தி, கற்பூரம் காட்டி, தடங்கல் இல்லாத விளைச்சலுக்கு நீருக்கு நன்றி செலுத்தி வாழை மட்டையில் விளக்குகள் ஏற்றி, அதை ஆற்றில் விடுவார்கள்.அது மட்டும் அல்லாமல் தங்கள் வீட்டில் பல விதமான கலப்பு சாதங்கள் (தேங்காய் சாதம், சர்க்கரைப் பொங்கல், எலுமிச்சம் பழம் சாதம், தக்காளி சாதம், தயிர் சாதம்) செய்து அதை ஏதாவது ஆற்றங்கறையில் வைத்து குடும்பத்துடனும், நண்பர்களுடனும் சேர்ந்து குதூகலமாக உணவை சாப்பிடுவார்கள்.
