CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Former Holmes school band director Jared Murray says the texts he sent a female student were taken out of context. On our Local 12 Facebook we asked if it's ever okay for teachers to text students.  The answer: an overwhelming no. Pam Straughn says, If a teacher has a message to get to the student, they should go through the parents cell phone.  It is for the protection of the student and the teacher.Shelly Hingsbergen writes, Why put yourself in a position where it can all back fire?  My niece had a really cool teacher.  They asked if his class could be his facebook friend he told them all no until after graduation and legal age. Kathy Johnson Kroetzsch said, I have had coaches know my kids number, but they were only texted about the sport or activity, like practice is canceled or it's moved to a different location or time.
