This is an original song by me, called "Think For A Minute." Usually when I record songs I tend to bang them out in a few days. I've had this one around for about a month, and it basically evolved around the piano melody. I wrote some lyrics in class, some of them at home, etc.

Musically, when I made this melody up on piano, I was just trying to do interesting things with bass notes. A lot of the chords in the song feature a bass note that isn't the dominant (like playing a C# over an A chord, or an F# over a D). It's a cool effect that a lot of artists use, Paul McCartney is a real master of it (listen to "Maybe I'm Amazed"), because it works well with descending bass lines.

The arrangement is scarce but I did put a lot of time and thought into it. The piano backing is accompanied by acoustic guitar, and my bass track. When writing the bass line, I was trying to do a lot of movement and melodic runs, while also emphasizing the same bass notes that the piano does. Kinda like Macca! The lead guitar is double tracked, played on my Gretsch. I had a lot of fun coming up with the fills, and the solo took quite some time to work out. Vocally, there's a lead with harmony, and an occasional two-part falsetto backing over the verses.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the song and the lyrics. Comments and criticism are welcome.

Oh, and sorry there's no video for this...instead, I put a picture of my mailbox.
