Heard the dogs barking and found this snake trying to get into my house (without a warrant). It's a Texas Live Snake, as opposed to a Texas Good Snake. There are 5 species of snake in Texas: Rattlesnake, Copperhead, Water Moccasin, Coral Snake and Other. The first 4 are poisonous. This is an Other. It displayed all of it's defense mechanisms. Puffed up and flattened it's head to look bigger, hissing, sprayed musk, then played dead. I interview every snake I find. If it has fangs, it fails the interview. This snake was kept around to keep critters out of the garden.
