A Ste. Madeleine man, wielding a cutlass in the street, has been shot and killed by police. The man was identified as Roger Nagessar, also known as 'Bubbles.' The incident occurred sometime after 8pm on Wednesday at Friendship Village, near San Fernando. A video on social media showed police officers interacting with Nagessar, cautioning him to put the blade down. Relatives are stating that Nagessar had a history of mental illness and are questioning why police used lethal force in the incident, and why there were no other options available to end the interaction without bloodshed.
