A long-delayed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Guyana and T&T on energy cooperation is expected to be signed in the coming weeks, according to Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Franklin Khan. Speaking to Starbroek News via telephone, the Minister did not go into the details of the agreement. He, however, emphasised that his Government is willing to offer its assistance to Guyana as it prepares for first oil. Since 2016, discussions between Guyana and T&T on an MoU had begun, under which T&T was to provide various forms of support to the oil and gas sector in Guyana. At the time, Guyana Minister of Natural Resources, Raphael Trotman, had said that the pact would see Guyana receiving support in a range of areas, including advanced technical training for local personnel in the industry.
