Special Number Plate Fetches Record Bid Of RM1,111,111

The special ‘MALAYSIA 1’ vehicle number plate has fetched RM1,111,111 making it the highest bid ever for a vehicle registration plate, Transport Minister, Anthony Loke revealed the successful bid was made by Aldi International Sdn Bhd an investment company in Johor Bahru. He said all the 10 special numbers in the series ‘MALAYSIA 1’ to ‘MALAYSIA 999’ also fetched a total of RM3.62 million. The minister also said Aldi International was also successful in its bid for ‘MALAYSIA 2’ and `MALAYSIA 4' for a total of RM484 ringgit. The ‘MALAYSIA 2020’ registration number was not open for bidding as it is reserved for the official car of Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. The premier is expected to ride the car bearing the special plate number during the National Day celebration.
