Clothing is a strange thing. (No, not the opening line to a lecture of the joys of nudism.) Just the way one article of clothing can mean something and make you feel a certain way, and another can be an entirely different experience again. I bought a jacket today. I wanted to get it to look good, to feel cool, to keep warm. And even though I have owned it for a mere matter of hours, I put it on and it feels familiar. And it makes me feel safe. What a strange way to describe a jacket. As if we had some history, this jacket and I. The only link I can even begin to imagine is that it reminds me of another jacket I own, that I had adventures in, and embraced in the face of a cold Canberra winter. http://www.johnlacey.com
