Turning a blind eye to child abuse and allowing these children to suffer in silence should never occur in our society.

According to the Social Welfare Department, JKM a total of 19,984 child abuse cases have been reported over the past six years -- with an increase of more than 500 cases between 2015 and 2016 alone.

Despite the growing awareness and acknowledgement of child abuse as a societal problem, many Malaysians still do not fully grasp its nature and seriousness.

Once the JKM receive complaints or reports on child abuse and neglect, our officers will gather information such as the name of the child, name of the suspected perpetrator, parents' information and location of the alleged abuse case. A protector or assistant protector will then visit the location immediately based on the report. If the abuse case occur in the house and the protector denied us entry to see the child, the protector can get assistance from the police. If the child has been taken to a hospital, the protector will visit the hospital.)
