Some seriously pitchy notes, but I like the song. Notes and details below
-------------------------------

From where I sit we need a change
Blind sighted falling rain
Tables rising, rivers form
Clearing skies are only the eye of the storm

Still they say the rain will do us good
When the levee breaks
I'll remember where I stood

Will they stop taking our lives
Will they stop breaking our minds
Will we stop stalling
Will our knees stop crawling
Will the rain stop falling down?

Empty letters, hollow words
Cannot hide us as we slowly submerge

Still they say the reign will do us good
When the levee breaks
I'll remember where I stood

Will they stop taking our lives
Will they stop breaking our minds
Will we stop stalling
Will our knees stop crawling
Will the reign come falling down?

Make your mind up
To take back your life

From where I sit
It's time for a change

Our knees are crawling
Our feet are stalling
Our knees are crawling
Can you hear it calling now?
The reign is falling down
Rain is falling down now

I've always been intrigued by songs that make use of homophones, like "Please Please Me", with my favorite conceptually being The Whos Love "Reign O'er Me". For a while now I've wanted to write a song that makes use of both rain and reign. I like how this one makes sense even if you just go by rain but it has a deeper meaning once you introduce both.

That said, for me the true meaning of this song comes during the middle bridge. "Make your mind up to take back your life." We often hand over control of our lives to others because we think they will do a better job, or maybe we feel it will absolve us of blame if things go wrong. Ulitmately, though, no matter how directly responsible we are for our circumstances, we are solely responsible for changing our lives and our selves.

I'd really appreciate some feedback on this one. At times I love it and other times I am ambivalent. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks for your time and support. As a reminder, I am still having issues with youtube eating comments so I won't be replying directly. Please understand that all feedback is greatly appreciated and I will do my best to convey this in another manner.

Justin
