Day 9 in the Atlantic, Day 26 in the Eastern Pacific
Extratropical Storm Andrea is now accelerating quickly into the Atlantic Canada region, and has already swept through most of Nova Scotia. Warnings remain in effect for the northern extremity of the island, as well as southeastern Newfoundland. The storm still holds 45mph winds, but has shallowed in pressure to 1002mb. The storm is expected to progress gradually more towards due east, and eventually approach the western coast of Ireland before either curling back into the north Atlantic, or heading on towards the Arctic Ocean.
A new tropical storm has formed in the Western Pacific, in the form of Yagi. This storm currently has 40mph winds and a minimum central pressure of 996mb. This storm is expected to move north or north-east towards Japan, before making an eventual landfall as a weak to moderate tropical storm at this stage.
