Bethsaida Community, Inc., a non-profit based in Norwich, will receive $350,000 in federal grant money every year for the next five years. Homeless Women Deserve Treatment, a program of Bethsaida Community that assists homeless women and women in crisis, is benefiting from the new funding. Donie Jarmon, the HWDT program coordinator, goes into the community every day to find those in need of help. Kristin DeShong, one of Jarmon?s clients, is a Norwich resident who suffered abuse as a child and landed in a youth foster care program. DeShong, 26, is now participating in a treatment program for a heroin addiction and has been diagnosed with bipolar mental health disorder.
