Hiking in the North Bend area of Western Washington

Three popular tune-up hikes near the town of North Bend, only a 30-40 minute drive from the Seattle metro area. I did the Rattlesnake Ledge hike in a hurry (45 minutes up, 30 at the top, and 35 down) as there were some heavy flash flood producing thunderstorms that morning and more were threatening to form over the Cascade crest and move down into the foothills that afternoon. The "Little Mount Si Trail" leads to some nice vertical cliffs that are popular with rock climbers. The same cliffs look tiny from the top of Mount Si, some 3000 ft above. There are some great wildflowers this time of year in the basin below "The Haystack" (the summit outcrop of Mount Si, which requires some class 3 scrambling to reach).
