The frog singing was very intense this morning, and I couldn't go back to sleep- not because they were so loud- but because they were so incredible! The repetetive pattern of their music is very enchanting and almost unnerving. The quiet pause between verses is punctuated by several twangs from a few greenfrogs, and then the bullfrogs would begin again with a few voices- (of how I wish I had stereo recorders to catch the effect!) then repeated by the whole congregation. The effect was very churchlike. Sadly this audio was only recorded with my cellphone... One day I imagine myself stalking around with a big shotgun mic strapped to my back. I think some of the beauty of this chorus is attributed to the cool temperature (54) I wrapped up in a blanket to sit near the edge of the pond, my cat followed me out- and you may also hear my horse snorting at me because he didn't know what to make of the blanket. Near the end you will also hear some barn swallows chittering. If any frog lovers have any info about this that they like to share- I'm all ears!
